About Me
Patrizia studied Fine Art at the University of Frankfurt, Germany. After extensive travels all over the world she returned to start an apprenticeship as a scenic artist.
She has worked for over 15 years as a backdrop artist at the Berlin Opera and the Opera House in Bern, Switzerland as well as a freelancer for movie and TV sets.
She found her new home in Kauai 2007.
Patrizia’s work is inspired by the Hawaiian culture and the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. She likes to explore the relationship between ourselves and our environment, our inner landscape and our outer ones.
Patrizia’s art is represented by Wyland Gallery in Kilauea, Hawaii.
You can find her in person Saturdays in Hanalei at the market from 9am-12pm where she is selling some originals and prints.
“I like everything ocean, the healing and cleansing properties, its creatures, especially whales and dolphins I must come from the planet Sirius or in my other life I was a mermaid ;-), My favorite movie is ‘Whale Rider’. I drink Matcha Latte every morning on the beach and my favorite word is chrysalis. In my parallel life I am a pianist or dancer. I love monstera leaves and the smell of night blooming jasmin which I have planted around my little beach cottage. I love everything summer, the berries, warm winds, the sun, swimming, surfing, snorkeling. If I had to choose a sound I’d say the wind shaking the tree leaves, birds singing and the rain and the ocean of course. I have done art since I was a little kid but didn’t continue painting until I started my apprenticeship when I was 31 years old. I had to move through conditioning and cliches like ‘you are not good enough’, ‘artist are starving’, etc. I am afraid of heights. I have two big scars on both legs at the exact same spot.”
